2003 Civic Hybrid with "Integrated Motor Assist"
Hi, (new to this forum here)
My elderly aunt has a 2003 Civic Hybrid with IMA. We changed the big battery about 4 years ago with a "rebuilt" battery; and now that has failed too. There was a warning light on the dash, and the dealer did a diagnostic and said the big (hybrid) battery has failed.
Question: since the gasoline engine is pretty much always used on this car, can the car be used with the battery in the present condition? Or will it suddenly cease operation?
It doesn't pay to put a new battery in it, as the new batteries cost more than the car is worth...but we're trying to see if she can drive it until she gets another car.
