2003 honda civic ex, starts then dies... help.
okay, this is a 2003 civic ex, stock parts, I just replaced the head, and head gasket, replaced all the valves, ( my first time trying that, but I think I did it right) got everything back together, and went to start it up, it turned over but soon as it gets started it dies,.... I'm hoping I missed something simple, like a sensor, but I'm just not sure,... don't want to take this car apart again if I don't have to, any help would be great, if I figure it out before I get any replies I will update this.
after doing that particular job the list of possible causes range from a forgotten hose to a problem with the head. did you do the head work while the engine was in the car? im assuming you did the work due to a problem you were already having. so ill start with the easiest potential first if you didn't unhook the battery the ecu is still thinking there's something wrong and will keep trying to run the engine the way it used to be running it. next easy just take your time and look over the whole engine bay for anything forgotten. starting into the difficult is check the intake and make sure its tight and the gasket is in place. its all stuff your probably going to go over but it is stuff that's going to cause your problem. you should be able to tell most of you potential head problems just by popping the valve cover back off. what exactly did you do with the valves? the valves and head get broken in to each valve and exact valve placement. you can't mismatch valve location between thier original cylinders. should have also been marked for which way they were in the seat. if you used new valves the head should have gotten the seats done if not the new valves could have been useless.
