Default 2004 Honda Civic VP Cooling issues

Alright, I've been having a series of problems with my 04 Civic, and at this point I'm about to just throw a new engine in it.

Around october of 2017 the car began to lose coolant and I overheated it pretty bad, from this point on the car would frequently lose coolant and I would be replenishing it. Once winter started this issue pretty much went away but my heat wasn’t really working good. It would be ice cold unless i was doing highway speed. Still loosing a little coolant though. Now winter has almost passed and the problems are back. except this time i’ve had two hoses blow, replaced those, flushed everything, two or three times. New radiator cap, new thermostat just recently too. I thought maybe my heater core was bad so I bypassed the heatercore to see if it would still have problems and it did; I was losing coolant still and there’s no visible leaks. So it must be the HG right?! But there’s issue with that too, theres no antifreeze in my oil at all, there’s no white smoke out the exhaust, no power less or performance issues. I’m at a lost. At this point i might just throw another engine in it. that’s probably less of a headache then the HG.

What do do you guys think?

Well, if you're losing coolant it's either leaking or burning off. Was the head checked after your overheated the motor?

Depending on your location, the ambient temp was probably low enough to prevent the overheat to show up. Heat not working is due to a lack of coolant in this situation most likely.

I live in good old pennsylvania and it’s pretty cold here right now so you’re probably right. And no i haven’t had head tested with a leak down test yet.

I had the same issue, had the head gasket checked by a professional. But upon many stressful attempts I figured out the issue so maybe this helps. First thing, the very top edge of the radiator where it’s crimped to the plastic may be coming undone. Second make sure the fans work, if they don’t it’s either a fan motor or your engine coolant temperature sensor (which controls your fans.) Hope that helps.
