Default 2004 LX rear main seal issues

The rear main seal on our 2004 Civic started leaking ~ 36,000 miles. Finally, after arguing back and forth with Honda Customer Service, they agreed to replace it. The dealer did theat 40,000 miles in November. Now, the car has 50,000 miles and I see it's dripping again.

Is the rear main seal a common issue on these cars? This is our first Honda and we love it, but the rear main seal issue is not settling well with me.

I think the crank got scored some how from the original rear main seal (maybe it wasn't installed straight) and that caused the scoring and the initial leak. If that's the case, it's no wonder the replacement failed (or is failing).

What do you guys think? I'm new to these Hondas so lay it on me!!!!!

No... with statistics you're one in a million civics that probably has that problem... I am also an 04 LX and I've never had that kind of issue.
