Default 2005 Civic won't start

turn the key and no clicking....problem is that the shifter won't move out of park so I can roll it out of the parking place to jump it. Key is on,foot on the brake but won't shift! Am I forgetting something?

It sounds like your battery is completely dead. The mechanism that unlocks the shifter is electric, so it won't work with a dead battery. For such situations, there is a way to unlock the shifter by pushing the car key into a slot near the base of the shift lever.
