Default 2005 DX Starting problems.....

I have been having a problem with the car starting on the first try. Sometimes it starts right up and everything is good and sometimes when it I turn the key there is kind of a long delay and it starts and then theres times when it wont start on the first crank but it will start right up on the second. Has anybody else had this issue?

Hard to say what the problem is. When were the spark plugs last replaced? You might also consider replacing the fuel filter. Is the CEL ON?

i have that problem with my 2004 dx but it's been sitting for awhile with fuel stabilizer in it a shot battery that won't hold a charge so i have to keep it disconnected so the computer has to reset and there no cat so it could be a bad battery or fuel filter maybe. i do have new denso`s iridium plugs and i did a complete tune up timeing belt transmission flush plugs all that before it sat.

I forgot about the pain in replacing the fuel filter in a 7th generation Civic.

In the case of a hard starting problem, the manual suggests to check the battery and measure the fuel pressure (see diagrams below). AutoZone will check the battery as a free service, but you might want to clean and tighten the battery connectors first.

Before you go through to much trouble and start replacing things first check your main engine ground. I had a similar problem where the car acted just like it had a dead battery sometimes and other times it would start up just fine. It turned out that the screw on the main engine ground had just come loose. I found out the hard way though, after replacing the battery, starter and alternator.
