Default 2006 Civic EX Heater is stuck on??

Hi everyone. New to this site and I appreciate any help in advance.

So, was riding back from work and was getting warm and turned the thermostat **** to the cooler side and all I got was the same hot air. The blower is working fine, but I can't control the temperature. I tried turning it to cold with the AC but that didn't matter at all. Does anyone have any ideas or run into this problem? I guess I'm glad it's blowing hot air being that it's 20 degrees outside.

Thanks!

The control panel including the hot/cold dial is electronic, it indirectly controls a motor behind the dash that moves the air door and water valve to make the air hot or cold. Likely the motor is bad. If you find the service manual it describes a way to run a self-test on the system.

Check whether you can close the heater valve manually. The valve is generally associated with a heater hose near the firewall.
