Default 2006 Honda Civic Hybrid

I own a 2006 Civic Hybrid with about 77,000 miles on it. I need new brakes - at least the pads and maybe the rotors. It is quite expensive to have this done at the dealer. Is there any reason why, with this car, I cannot have my local mechanic do the brake job for me? I would estimate that he will be about half the price of the dealer. I just worry that with this car, there is something tricky about replacing the brakes that only the Honda mechanics know how to do. Does anyone know the answer to this question?

No. There is no special knowledge in replacing pads and rotors.
