I recently purchased a pre-owned civic and I've been having a little problem with the stock stereo. Basically the volume of my stereo is always quiet and has a really lame sounding quality to it while i'm driving through town at lower speeds and when I'm on the highway my stereo is loud as **** and sounds awesome. I've set my treble and bass to good levels along with my ipod and FM transmitter, the transmitter is always on an unused channel and i've messed around with the SVC in the city and on the highway to no real effect.

Can anyone give me some tips before I take my car to a mechanic?
