Default 2008 Civic EX - engine cutoff

Yesterday while driving my 2008 Civic EX at 50 mph on a (thankfully) straight stretch of country road, the engine cut off. I lost accessories, but I was able to safely coast to the shoulder. After putting the car in park, I was able to restart it and it ran fine to my destination. Today, it has run fine as well, with no hint of a cutoff. So, now I feel like I'm playing roulette.

I've searched this forum, but I don't see where others have addressed this problem. I have 112,000 miles on it. How often does the fuel pump go bad? And does it typically give you any warnings? Could it be a fuel filter? Something else? Lots of questions....no answers. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Chief, intermittent problems are the most difficult to diagnose. Your problem may never happen again, or it might occur tomorrow morning. If you have a code reader, plug it in and see if your computer stored a code when the engine cut out. If not, have the codes checked at Autozone for free. Just don't start replacing parts like fuel pumps, etc., until the engine does it again, then maybe have a mechanic take a look and see if he can find anything.
