Has anyone driving a Civic from 2007, 08, 09, or 10 had to replace their entire steering rack?

Have a 2008 Civic with 64,000 km and just had the whole rack replaced. Under the power-train warranty, thankfully. Over $ 2,000 worth of work. It's the first time the folks at the Honda dealer have had to replace one of the new electronic power-steering racks, so they seemed almost excited.

Am wondering if this is a case of a rack with some shoddy pieces, or is an issue with this type of rack more generally. In 3 years and another 60,000 km, the warrant will no longer be valid...
