ok light has come on, im due for my 80,000 but i havent done it for the holidays and evrything got toguether. i have now 84 thou miles, and my question is if i rather take it to the dealer or do it somewhere else? i think is about 400 dollars to do it at the dealer, but right after xms will leave me broke. im not surewhat the service is about, the manual is not very clear. i have a 02LX sedan. any ideas? thx.

for 80k, it probably needs general maint work, like tire rotation, filter changes and oil, and maybe a few belts, if they look and sound bad.
Most honda manuals don't suggest going to into detail until around 100-115k, like timing belt replacement and etc.
I would hit a pull-in oil change shop, get your oil/air filters changed, and hit an auto store for a fuel filter change, maybe wal-mart or somewhere for a rotate. You can get all that done for under 100 probably, and wait a few thousand more for the big stuff. Thats what I did.

We have an 02 CR-V also, I am about to cut the wire to her light, on the older hondas you could just use your key to reset the little tab, but now I have no idea how to do it.
I am sure there is some little jumper you could pull and reconnect to do it, I just wish i could find the info on that. I am going to google it and see what I find.
I do most of the maint. work on her stuff myself, minus big things. Filters, belts, oil and etc are too easy to do yourself, that light is just an evil ploy to get your honda into to the shop where you will want to spend more then you really need, lol.

I just googled, found this link, and tried it on our crv, the light went out, sweet !
Try it out.. I held the trip reset for 20 sec, then turned the vehicle on and started it, still holding the button, after about 15 seconds, it flickers, then 5 sec more it goes off alltogether.
Give it a shot.

I believe you could find an answer if you searched this forum, too 
Just don't understand the point of resetting the light without making the maintenance
Light is there to remind you that it'stime for ittobe done. Or am I missing something?
