im havin this where the rpm hesitates when i hit the gas in neutral ive got good spark and ok compression but i cant seem to figure it out its carbed please help

 

Revving the engine in neutral doesn't prove much except that you're willing to annoy the neighbors. How does it drive? If you can keep it going and get up to speed and "pulling" good (well, as good as a 1500 CVCC will) while wide open by pressing the gas pedal slowly-- but it stalls if you stomp it down, check the accelerator pump.

 

well the car wont go above 20 unless im on down hill slope and to take off from a dead stop i have to redline it just for it to barely get goin then i have to pump the clutch to keep the engine from diein

 

Timing could be way off-- cam and/or spark.

Are all 4 cylinders working?
