Default 86 ignition switch trouble

The car won't stay running unless I hold the key on after I start it.
Any ideas out there?

happened to me its a faulty ignition switch. i have a newer EF civic "88-91" and it happened to me in the middle of a busy street. you can try taking it apart and cleaning it out, mildly scrape the terminals so they touch better and look inside for busted plastic pieces/broken spring. or if you want to save yourself the hassle just go get another one from the junkyard. im not sure how yours is it might be like mine but its easy to get out once you got the ignition switch holder removed from the steering column, remove 2 phillips screws and another under the key inserted sensor and disconnect the 4 pin harness from the dash fusebox and remove the 5 pin i think from a harness directly under the steering wheel
