Angry 87 civic si starts then dies

hey guy got a little problem here i bought the car [B]1987 honda civic si 1.5 L a few months ago from 15 year old kid dont know what he has dont to it. but here we go was driving it for a couple of weeks after i put a used ECU in it i got it home one day and it just quit i would just start for a few seconds and just die and if i tried to give it gas dies faster but the fuel filter is clean so i know it is not clogged. i thought it was the main relay so i bought a new one still same problem. i hooked a (noid) tester to the injector and it has a little spark but i dont think it is as strong as it should be. i am at a dead end need a little help

Joe

PGR-FI light flashes 2-2-3 and no fault codes on the ECU no lights light up at all

Weak spark may indicate a bad coil or igniter unit.

are you talking about the coil for the plugs?

I am getting good spark at the plugs but weak at the injectors while using the "Noid" tester

I misunderstood your comment.

Maybe this info will help with further troubleshooting of the injectors:

I generally consider the ECU last. Did you already test the resistance of the resistor as shown in the first diagram?

Also, I wasn't sure that I really understood this comment you made in the first post:

"PGR-FI light flashes 2-2-3 and no fault codes on the ECU no lights light up at all"

For example, how does this statement relate to this diagram:

no i have not done that test but ill try it tomorrow when i get off work.

Ill try to explane the PGM-FI light. when i turn the key on all the normal lights are on then they go off and the PGM light stays on and then it starts to blink twice and then a pause. then two more than a pause and then three times it blinks and then keep repeteing that.

I really don't know what the blinking pattern of PGM-FI light means. I can't find this described in the service manual; however, the fact that the PGM-FI lamp stays ON indicates a problem. This together with the fact that the ECU (Control Unit) does not blink a code would suggest a code 0, which indicates malfunction of the ECU (as you mentioned earlier). You may want to try to purchase a compatible used ECU from a salvage yard to test whether your ECU may be bad.

Here's an additional test for you to run on the Control Unit:
