Default 88 Hatchback, no spark!

Trying to find out why my car will not produce any spark. I have already replaced the distributer cap, rotor button, and coil and still no luck, any place to help point me in the right direction? The car only has 97k miles on it.

Ok after doing some more searching it seems these cars are common to have a bad main relay. My roommate mentioned this before about his 90 accord. The main relay on these is supposedly located on the driver's side, near the fuse box. Also I am not sure if the car is getting fuel. We had assumed that the no spark was the problem, but now that I think back I do not recall the fuel pump making any noises when I turned the key forward to test things. Any thoughts? my AIM is mickiemagik if anyone can teach me about these things

How do you know that you have no spark? I'm assuming you pulled the spark plug wires and found no spark coming out of them. The problem could also be that the trigger (which turns the primary coil on and off) is not turning the coil on and off. I do not know what type of trigger your car uses, i would have to look it up.

Yes I pulled the wire and it created no spark. I am going today to check out the main relay and see if anything is up with it. I just purchased the car the other day, drove it home, then it stopped running. The reason I am thinking main relay, is that the lever to release the hood is not mounted anymore.

new main relay did not solve the issue, ignitor is about the last item to check

Does it go away after a couple sec/min when you start your car? If that is the case, your alternator (or another drive belt) is bad. When you first start your car, the belt is cold and the alternator takes the most engine power. Since the belt is cold and it is being pulled harder, the belt is slipping on the pulley. When the car warms up a little, the belt gets hot and sticks to the pulley better as well as the alternator taking less engine power.

Well it seems to go away when it is idling, but if i blip the throttle it will come back. It is definitely coming from teh alternator area. The car sat for 4 years so I am sure the drive belt is a little rough.
