91' civic station wagon Idling and A/C
Hi, I've been having an enormous problem with my Civic I just got a week ago. Sometimes when I start it up it automatically jumps up to 2200-3000 R.p.m's. Also my A/c comes on and it blows fine but it just doesn't get cool. I'd really appreciate some advice on the issues.
idle issue could be a vacuum leak.
also if the throttle cable has been replaced lately, it could just be on there too tight. that was the case with mine. with the car running, loosen the throttle cable and see if the idle goes down. what motor is in your car? (hint: look for it inscribed beside the exhaust manifold)

If you have a DPFI fuel system (says "Dual Point" on top of the air box), when it is idling too fast pinch off the air hose from the left (driver's) side of the air box that goes down to the IACV. If that makes it slow down, clean the IACV. If not, check for other problems like the other guy said.
On the air conditioner, does the compressor engage when you press the button (with the interior fan on and the engine running)? Do the condenser fans come on?

I was just out driving around and I realized that my car felt like it was pulling me. I then came to a red light, and decided to test my car and see what was going on. I then realized that even at a complete stop, my car was still trying to pull ahead even though I had a firm push on the brakes. As the light turned green, I let off the brakes and the car just went with out me accelerated.
Then as I was driving I decided to slip my foot under the accelerator pedal and pull it back a bit and the car stopped pulling me. Now I just would like to know if I have to loosen the pedal or something of that sort.
