Default 92 accord 2.2 litre interference engine???

Hello I have someone asking if their honda accord with a 2.2 litre engine is an interference engine. Since you guys here are stuffing all kinds of motors in here I thought you would know. His has 102,000 on it now and he wants to know if it will damage the engine if the belt breaks.

rule of thumb = honda motors are all interference. there isn't much space between the non-interference motors valves and pistons anyway, but with heat expansion, a tiny bit of valve float (since the belt would likely break under high load, which on a honda motor means reving the crap out of it,) carbon build up on the valve and piston, and a cam stopped at max lift, a piston can easily contact a valve.
but you can ignore all that and save any explanation to a customer, the f22 is a interference motor.

So is the motor shot completely if timing belt breaks while driving it?

Not always, but there is a better chance than not internal damage occurred
