92 Civic LX Sedan - Sputtering Problem @3400 RPM
I looked through the forum and searched and couldn't find this problem anywhere - Anyway, here is the problem:
Anytime the RPM's get to about 3400, my car starts sputtering and won't go above 3400 RPM and will start to lose power until I take my foot off the accelerator, the car will then shift into the next gear and I can accelerate again until it hits 3400 again.
I have also noticed that when it is warm outside (>75F) I sometimes don't have the problem and the CEL turns off (does not always turn off, though).
I think I checked the CEL once before and it gave 4 fast flashes, a short pause, 9 fast flashes, a long pause and then start over. (Believe this is CKP and CYL Sensor).
Any suggestions as to what I should do first?
Thanks,
Art

The CEL codes are likely telling you precisely what the problem is -- you'll need to replace the distributor assembly to fix.
First clear the ECU and verify that the same codes appear after driving.

Just checked the codes again this morning - looks like it's 4, 8, and 9 now...
I was just comtemplating changing out the plugs, so maybe I'll do that and probably wait on the distributor assembly until after I clear the ECU (or I'll probably clear the ECU first as RonJ suggested) - Thanks RonJ and PNK SLP
-RonJ - where in Texas are you? (I grew up in West Texas)

Spent a weekend in Galveston once and flew into Houston on my way to boot camp in San Antonio, too - a little to humid for me, since I grew up in the arid west.
Anyways, just picked up the cap and rotor, so I'll update after I've changed them out in a few days.
