Default 92 Honda License Plate light help

My son just bought a honda... we where told the brake lights where staying on even when the key wasn't in the ignition...fixed that and noticed that the license plate light won't go out either...still draining his battery. Any ideas on what might be causing this?

is it a hatch, if it is the wires that go form the body to the hatch might be messed up

hmmm sounds like it could be the licence plate wiring harness, i had that problem on my hatch and had to replace it with another one from a junk yard. in the mean time i would unplug it to keep his battery from draining

I unplugged it only to realize that all my parking lights where on even when the key was out. Headed off to the junkyard and bought a new headlight switch...didn't fix my problem...in doing that i realized that even with the switch disconected the lights stay on!!

still clueless

i had the same problem, i have a 91 civic dx hatch. there is a small round plastic piece behind the brake pedal, looks like a grommet but plastic, if that has broken off for whatever reason you can go to a auto store or someplace to replace it. that fixed the brake lights for me, let us know if thats it.

Might be a bad brake light switch

he said the brake lights got fixed its the other lights that are on
my opinion is to look under sterring wheel and at all other wires and see if anything has been rigged pull out tail lights and follow wires.
