i put the v power plugs in and the old plugs were ngk iridium.
Just curious why not use platinum or iridium?

Platinum or iridium plugs are a waste of money on that stock LX motor, IMHO

My 97 LX has the same problem. I've been burning fuel and oil (been having to add about a quart of oil every 2 weeks). My CEL works but the car hasn't thrown one. I still haven't been able to locate the source of the problem either.
