I believe Civics with or without a tach in the gauge cluster have the identical 5 rear connectors (A-E). The tach signal comes from terminal 8 (blue wire) of the B connector. Therefore, if you simply remove your current gauge cluster and plug in an equivalent version having a tach, the new tach should work.

ya just buy a cluster that has a tach like from a EX or SI.

good thing is you can still keep your stock milage meter, just as long as your speedo is good i highly suggest swaping it into the different EX cluster. then will swap right over no problems by simply poping a few clips off the bezels off the cluster, then the remove the 3 or 4 small philips screws off the back of the cluster around the electric strip board and then the speedo part should slide right out. then simply screw it in the new cluster and snap it all back together. and now you can also put together your old cluster with the new clusters speedo/milage and then try and sell the lower model cluster .... you wont get as much money BUT its some cash back towards the upgrade so its all good!
