This is my first post on the forums...thanks in advance.

Here's my vexing issue.
When I go to start my car in the morning I have to turn the ignition a couple times before I feel like I'm making the "right connection" and the engine turns.

This takes sometimes 2 or 3 times...sometimes up to 10 or 15.

When it doesn't start, the starter clicks, all the electrics come on fine, but there is no "turn over".

If the car is warm, it starts right away, no prob. It runs smooth and dandy all day after I start her.

If it sits for 4 hours or more I get the same cold start issues.

I've noticed the the actual ignition mechanism is kind of sticky as well.

She's a fine ship but middle aged...160K.

 

Starter clicks but doesn't turn, while the rest of the car has power, is usually the starter itself. They tend to get intermittent before going completely bad.
