Default 95 civic 1.6 vtec WATER IN OIL help

This car was involved in an accident where it rear ended a pickup. The hood was pushed back past the valve cover (the car went under the bumper) and all of the plug wires were cut off by the hood. The valve cover appears undamaged. The oil in the car was beautiful when we got it. I brought the car home and took the radiator out (broken) and put a water hose in the lower radiator hose to keep the engine cool while testing the engine. I replaced the spark plug wires and cranked the engine. The engine ran perfect for about 30 min. The car only has 113,000 miles.
So my question is, is it possible for rain to get in with the spark plug wires missing?

I would not have run it for 30 minutes without a complete cooling system...

The spark plug tubes would have to fill up almost completely with water, and the seals on the valve cover be bad, for water to get into the crankcase that way.
