I have a 1995 civic dx with a 5 speed transmission with a D16A in it and all my Negative Leads are hot. This is causing the car not to start.. my auto tech said to start under the dash of the car and go form there. any opinions?

 

is the battery hooked up right? also check all your grounds, the neg on battery needs to be grounded to the frame and also the motor, and on the thermostat housing should be your wire harness grounds.

 

Well my leads arnt hot after all, the i dont hear the fuel pump coming on and the main relay is fine. Everything you have stated is hooked up fine.

The just wont turn over or crank. When i turn the key to the crank position doesn't do anything at all. the headlights and dashlights and everything work fine.

 

When you turn the key on but not all the way to start, the Check Engine light on the dash should light up for 2 seconds and then go out. During that time the fuel pump should come on then turn off at the same time the light goes out. The oil and battery lights should come on and stay on the whole time the key is on. Does everything on your car do that?

 

the CEL does not come on...

 

can a bad ecu cause the issue i am having?

 

take the dash cluster out and check the bulbs in the back of it, they may have pulled the cel bulb out,
have you tried turning the key on and then (make sure its in neutral and e-brake is up)
and jump the starter and see if it starts, also inspect your ecu and make sure its plugged up, inspect all your fuses.

 

Fuses are fine... The fuel pump is not coming on. I will do a CEL Light test on the car in the am and see what happens.

 

the car is turning over but not running right?
how sure are you on the main fuel relay under the dash is good?
