Default 95 civic long shifting???

Hello, I am new to the forum.

I have a 1995 Civic EX with (Auto) The transmission will not shift normally. I have to get it up to about 25mph to shift into 2nd gear... 40+ for 3rd... and so on. With that being said, I was on a long trip the other day and a radiator hose busted and stranded me on the side of the road. I didn’t overheat the engine and had a "mechanic" replace the hose and I was back on my way.

This is when the problem began... right after the hose was replaced. I am not sure if it is just irony that the transmission suddenly began doing this at the same time or maybe he might have unhooked or broken something. It is an "S" shaped smaller hose in the rear of the engine.

Any help would be much appreciated. Yes, I do have the right level of transmission fluid in there.

Check the cable that goes from the throttle body to the transmission. That makes the transmission "kick down" and rev higher before shifting when you floor the gas. If the cable is not moving the lever on the transmission properly in response to the gas pedal, it can rev high in that mode even when you don't floor the gas. In other words, the transmission thinks that it is floored when it is not.

Everything seems to be in order... what would you recommend as the next step?
