Thumbs up 95 Civic LX Has Pulsing Cold Start :(

I just picked up a decent 95 Civic and I changed the cap, Rotor, and plugs, and it runs allot better, but when I go to start it up first thing (regardless of the temp outside), the idle fluchulates for about a couple minutes and then comes to a normal idle. Any ideas on that part of the cold start system could be malfunctioning? Any help would be great. Thnak's

infamous honda idle problem. My 92 sedan does it, try cleaning the IACV, there's a tutorial on how to do it somewhere on here. After I cleaned mine it stopped for a little bit then came back but not really as bad at all. good luck

Default Thanks I Thnink Cleaning it Made a Difference

I located the part, and cleaned it with carburetror cleaner, and used a blow gun to clean the rest of the part, but not the screen, I was a little more gentel with that piece. Anyway I put it all back together, but the car itself has been sitting for a few months, so I think I just need to change the fuel filter and just drive it, and it shoul come out of it, (hopefully). Thanks again for the info. Peace

When cleaning the IACV you should also clean the passages in the manifold that it connects to.

Warm up the engine. Unplug the wires on the IACV. Idle should drop real low but not stall. Adjust the air screw on the top of the throttle body to achieve that. Do not adjust the throttle stop screw. Make sure throttle cable goes slack and throttle plate fully closed when no one is pressing the gas pedal.

Okay so I'm going to take off the IACV again and clean it with carb. cleaner, but I'll also clean the passages in the manifold, and I'll warm the engine up and unplug the electrical connector after I reinstall the IACV, but the question I have is do I adjust the air-mixture screw if the engine stalls? So the point would be to get the idle down extreamly low while the IACV electrical connector is unplugged? and then whe I plug it back in, problem solved?
