Default 95 dx coupe steering question

I have a '95 dx coupe, 5spd,that does not have power steering. Until recently the steering was very tight and tough to turn the wheel at low speed and easier at higher speeds but still it was tough. And just a couple of days ago, it started getting easier to turn at all speeds low and high. From what I can tell, nothing has changed except the ease at which it is to turn. There was always a little bit of play in the steering wheel, by little I mean maybe 1/2" total play, and that play is still the same. Its just easier to turn. I had it up on a lift and didn't notice anything that jumped out at me saying "THIS IS WHAT'S WRONG". So I am a little perplexed.

Could this be something with the steering boot? Or maybe ball joints? Any help is greatly appreciated.

you're saying the car is easier to turn? is there anthing wrong when you turn? do you hear clicking?

if not it could just be that you got use to driving without power steering... I dont even notice that I drive without power steering anymore. lol

yes it got easier to turn. I might have heard a "pop" sound right before it got easier, but I wasn't sure if it was just something in the road or the car. I don't think that its just me being used to the car since it was hard one second and then easier the next. As of right now there is no clicking sound when I drive straight or turn. I will check again on my way home.

I even try some faster turning manuevers to see if that will "show" me anything.
