I bought a 95 ex a couple of months ago. It has been running great and did so yesterday for about 70 miles round trip. My father in law drove it to and from work with zero issues yesterday. Parked it like usual and this morning no start.

The symptoms:
Turn the key forward, the usual warning lights go on and off, fuel pump whirls up.
Turn the key to start, NOTHING at all, no clicks or anything. The dash lights stay on.
I checked out some fuses, but all seemed fine.

All the wiring is intact.

Not sure what else it could be other than a fuse or relay. Is this a common problem?

 

Could be the ignition switch, or the interlock switch on the clutch pedal (manual) or shift lever (automatic) or the starter itself. Start testing by going under the hood and jump the starter (connect small terminal to battery + with a wire) to see if it turns.

 

Thanks for input. I have narrowed it down to the clutch switch or the main relay by fuse panel. It may not amount for much but I disconnected the relay and the car still did the same thing, so it has to be one or the other.

 

The main relay doesn't have anything to do with the starter turning. It turns on the fuel pump and injectors once the engine is turning. So should it fail, the engine will crank but not start because there's no fuel being injected.

There is a relay associated with the clutch switch, it is mounted high up on the side of the car near the clutch switch.

Unplug the clutch switch and jumper the plug and see if it will start. Also it is very common for the rubber pad that presses the button on the switch to disintegrate and fall out of the pedal arm.

 

You are correct sir. I saw some little bits of rubber laying in on the floor on the car. Didn't know what they were from, as i don't drive the car, but I did undo the switch from the bracket and pushed it down and it fired right up.
