Default 95 LSi coupe blue smoke/overheating?

Hi guys..

My first post and my first civic so please dont flame me too much I've had a search through the posts but cant find anything really similar.. id appreciate any suggestions cos im not much of a mechanic and not sure where to start.

Heres a quick run-down of the history:

Bought the civic with about 111k on the clock. First day i got it white smoke was comming out the exhaust and temp gauge was 100%. the overflow/reserve water tank sprayed a whole load of water on the inside of the hood. Got it to a garage and had a pressure test done (which failed obviously) and they said it would need a new head gasket. So I had the head gasket replaced with a new cam belt and coolant.

Now i've got it back and i was testing it out to make sure it was fine etc.. the temp gauge gets pretty hot after driving on the motorway Its always about 50% on the motorway - town driving after a long drive it gets up to 75-80% but never actually goes all the way to the red line. It gets pretty warm in the cabin when driving. I took it down to an industrial estate to give it a little thrashing... ive now got blue smoke comming out of my exhaust (a lot) with sticky blue liquid going into my reserve water tank (im guessing its coolant, the tank is getting fuller after i drive it).

Sorry for the long post, id really appreciate any suggestions..

Thanks

It really sounds like your engine is toast. Blue smoke from the exhaust almost never has a benign reason (maybe the PCV valve). The sticky stuff in your coolant is probably motor oil. The engine has warped or cracked during a previous overheating incident.

With the engine cold, take off the radiator cap and see if the radiator is full to the top. If the reserve tank is overflowing but the radiator is going low, replace the radiator cap.
