Default 96 civic engine shaking/vibrating during highway driving.

Hi,

When highway driving, I have recently noticed that my engine (or something) is vibrating - alot. It also seems to work harder than it did previously at 65mph. I have noticed significant shaking from 45-65mph.

The car is less than a year old, but high mileage - approx 23,000/yr - 25-40% of the driving is at a slow crawl in traffic.

I have a couple of questions:

Could it be the transmission or suspension - (please, God, no!)
Could it just need a check up?

How much should a check up for a year old honda civic cost in the Northeast?

Thanks for your help!
Tia

It sounds like your wheels are out of balance, maybe you lost a wheel weight? I would see if they need to be balanced.

Mlobitz,

Thanks, it turned out one of my rear tires was balding, and the wheels were out of balance. Good call! It cost $320 for 2 new tires, balance & alignment, but it was worth it. Now it feels like new!

Thanks again!
Tia
