I am going to buy this civic but am hesitant. (97 civic, 5spd, 140K miles) I hear a squeaking sound coming from the engine, specifically from the timing belt area. It can't be a loose wheel bearing since I can hear the squeak even when was the car is idle. Other than that, the car runs great. Any ideas what it could be?

 

My car squeaks when I dis-engauge the clutch after driving through water, IDK if this helps at all

 

a belt touching the timing cover or the idler pulley. also, could be the alternator.
take off one belt at a time and start it and see if it is still there.
