Default 97 civic dx - o2 sensor plug missing

hey all first post

i bought a basket case civic and am trying to iron out lots of issues. i scanned the cpu and got a code for the upstream o2 sensor. i checked the wiring before buying a new one and noticed it was unplugged. i searched the area for the other end of the plug and cannot find it at all. i bought a haynes manual and the book tells me to follow the wires lol with no picture.

im stuck....i need to replace this sensor but first i need to find the other end of the plug. can someone please tell me where i can find it? maybe even post a pic of its location for me? i would be forever grateful

the plug plugs into a sensor that is screwed into your exhaust. some of them have the catalytic converter built directly into the header, which is where the O2 sensor can be found.

i know where the o2 sensor is. i can see it and the wires coming off the o2 sensor. what i cant find is the plug that the o2 sensor plugs into.

imagine your looking at the o2 sensor:

o2 sensor--->wires--->connector1> ---><---- <connector2<----wires<-----(wiring harness???)

i cant find connector 2 or the wires that go to it or where it goes. the o2 sensor is there and i can find it fine but what the o2 sensor connects to is gone.
