Default 97 honda civic motor help please

hello im new to honda's and i just bought a 97 honda civic lx 4 door with the d16y7 in itfom the tow yard that i work at, it needs a new exaust manifold ( the old one is cracked) there is also a 93 2door civic with the d16z6 in it. i was wondering if i could take the manifold off the 93 and put it on the 97? also i was wondering if i could use the intake manifold off the 93, would this help the performance on the d16y7 or do i have to use the vtec head as well, and if so how hard is this to convert? thanks!

Default RE: 97 honda civic motor help please

How many miles are on the 97 lx?

I had the same problem on my 96lx (same motor) and someone from here told me that it may be covered by honda, and sure enough when I took it into the dealer honda had extended the emmissions waranty to like 14 years or something. So I got the whole manifold replaced for free. In addition to that, they had to preform a service before the touched the manifold which included spark plugs/wires, distributor cap and rotor, and an oil change, all of which were also free. When the showed me the bill I think it was around 700 bucks, and not a penny out of my pocket!

But if I'm not mistaken the lx is the only model that has the cat "built-in" to the manifold, so none of the other manifolds are a direct swap out.
