Default 98 lx air intake.

i have an air intake id like to install but im told by a mechanic that i have a version that i would have to make it ghetto for it to work...supposebly i have a filter box that connext to my tube bringing in the air...and i cant remove the box because it has some kind of switches that i need. if anybody can tell me what to do so i can install my new air intake id love it. thanks.

there is only one sensor (as far as I know) that you need to worry about, and its the intake air temp sensor. My $30 ebay cold air intake had a place for it. I'm sure that brand-name intakes will also have proper places for all the sensors.

The biggest thing to look out for when ordering/purchasing is your vehicle model - especially if you are working on a canadian car and ordering parts from the US. The reason is there are 2 different intakes. One where the throttle body opening is facing up (towards the hood). The other is where the throttle body is facing the passenger side fender. If you order the wrong one it won't fit.

Another thing you could do is first swap on some EX parts to convert your car to the EX style intake system with the throttle body on the side, which is probably what the kit you have is designed to fit. Those parts have better performance in the first place than the LX type with the throttle body on the top and the big box.

can anybody send me a link of a cheap, but good air intake that will fit my honda civic 98 lx. i have the filter box and am worried about buying one because i dont know if it will fit.
