Default 98 manual window regulator install questions****with photos****

so i finally got the correct regulator.... i think.

ok so i tried following the vague direction sheet with little sucess, hense why im here asking you fine people for help.

ok so honda comes with a scissor style, regulator. and the replacement isnt.

ive tried arrangeing this thing a hundred different ways, with and without using parts that are describe in the instruction, and i cant figure this thing out.

here are some pics, first is what honda comes with second is what pepboys sold me, and ive crossed checked with rockauto its the same part.

plz help since the instruction told me to remove the old bar that the handle connects to(the part im talking about is at the top of the first photo near the text), now my window is being held in place with a 2x4 and a bolt. ha!!

Turn the crank on your new one to open it up, it might be more apparent then how it attaches.

im not missing any parts.

if you turn the crank it doesnt change the position of the holes for mounting.

hasnt anyone replaced a regulator in honda civic? or does everyone just go to the junkyard and take them from there? that might be why they were all gone when i went.

You have the wrong part.

The Honda parts book shows a scissor-type unit for the two door, and a cable type for the 4 door.

Two door (or hatchback-- the regulator seems the same though other parts may be different):

Four door (front doors):

Also (thinking back to another thread about this), the first scissor one you had-- with no shaft for the crank-- was for power windows. Still the wrong part.
