So, are you going to talk to Honda about a possible goodwill gesture or do you plan to change the ATF and linear shift
solenoid yourself?

Good question, I guess I could check with them. I don't think I trust them to tell me anything other than "buy a new transmission." What do you think?

It's definitely worth a try. Nothing to lose and everything to gain. Go armed with the TSB and the weblink where you retrieved it. They might help you out if they believe you are a loyal Honda customer.
