Driven the car this afternoon with no problems at all? Seems to be when outside temp is cool. I have changed the leads also today. Will see how it runs in the morning when finishing work. Alarm does not have a cut off feature so im told. Immobilizer im told would need resetting each time if this was the problem.

Have you tested the Main Relay for Fuel?

Not too sure how to do this or where to find it? Could it be a faulty temp switch? Something that someone has mentioned.

K. Update. Started the car this mornin after work and cut out as soon as engine started. Tried again and it ran no problem. So just the one stall on the engine firing. Drove home with no cut outs...?

Ok heres the latest on the stalking issue. Since the leads have been changed the car has started and stayed alive on start up. But still having problems with cutting out when driving, it doesnt seem to be as frequent, maybe once a journey. Still not right though. When it cuts out i put into neutral and it fires up straight away with no probs. Still not throwing cel light. Gonna try and change the distributor. Any other thoughts or suggestions would be as appreciated

Well, a bad igniter unit in the distributor can cause a similar problem. Here in the U.S., some auto parts stores will bench test coils and igniter units free of charge, but i don't know whether a similar service is available in the U.K.

Doubt it would be free over here, country has good mad! I will have a look see if i can find a free test. Do you think it could be distributor linked then? Temp switch?

Yeah, the temperature sensor is an unlikely cause. The distributor idea, particularly the igniter unit or possibly the coil, is a worthy pursuit.

No problem will take a look. Thanks for the input. Are these common probs with the esi? Used to own a 91 dual carb, and the only thing that went on that was the gearbox, due to me shifting at 45 into d2. I owned that for 4 years

k final update on this (I hope) - yesterday I changed the distributor complete (£45) and my woes seem to have come to an end. Thanks for all the advice and input!!!! Until the next problem arises!
