Alarm Install/Keyless Entry
I'm currently working on installing an alarm system into my Civic, 93 hatchback. I've hooked up the main loom and only have shock sensor and door/lock control left to do.
Today I pulled open the door to try work out how the central locking system worked, and found the control wires for the locking of the passanger door, coming off the control unit from the driver's side. But while I was in there, I noticed that the main locking mechanism for the door is controlled by mechanical levers only.
Am I correct in assuming that I cannot install keyless entry into my car for the driver's side without installing some kind of motor to unlock the driver's door (an accutator or the like)?
If that's true, any suggestions on what I should get/look for?
Thanks!

first off pull your door panel off one door and manualy slide the lock rod.... if it moves preaty easily then a cheap power door lock kit should work.... but if its kinda hard to move then id advise buying some autoloc door locks cause they are alittle more heavy duty and will work harder for a tuffer latch rod...

they are preaty easy to instal..... the hardest part that i had with my old crx was geting the lock motor wires thru the door jams... everything else was just easy, just find a spot to mount the motor lined up with the stock lock rod.. preaty easy...

yea you need to install door lock actuators if you do not have power locks. if you do have power locks from the factory then you dont need to be be in the door to get hook up your keyless entry you can get the wires in the drivers kick panel. they are negative wires and will rest at 12volts and drop to 0 when you the corresponding button (lock/unlock)
Actually... If you already have power locks, the module is in the drivers' door. There is no other place to get it. I have the schematic and a 93 civic and it was a pain in the ***! You have to run the lock and unlock wires through the door jam. I drilled small holes in the door harness to accomodate the wires through the door boot (the proper way). There should be a small white box up by the door handle, above the speaker. It is helpful to remove the speaker to help you access the back side of the door harness for running the wires. If you are installing new actuators (if you don't have power locks) you will have to run wires through the door jams as well. It is a pain but definitely worth the time invested.
The wires you need are neggative polarity, resting at 12V

Yep, I've found the control module (white box) above the speaker mount) and know how to hook it into that. I was just making sure that I had to install an acutator inside the door itself. I still haven't managed to find time to do this, as I need to get a drill to screw it into the door itself.
I'm not exactly sure where I should mount the actuator itself either, I'm probably going to mount it on the inner side of the door (behind the inside panel) since I don't want to put it where the window slides down. Hopefully I can find a place to fit it.
