Default all wheel drive crx conversion

hey guys, i have been on a few general honda tuner forums, and decided to try this civic only forum. i have a 91 crx base model. i have the chance to buy a non running 88 civic wagon with all wheel drive for cheap. i was wondering about converting my crx to all wheel drive. i know i would need a custom drive shaft because of the difference in wheel base. i need to know if the 88 wagon has the same side to side wheel base for the front and rear axles, and how much of a pain in the *** the conversion would be. also what other engines would the tranny and stuff from the 88 match up to, if i decide to upgrade engines later. thanks guys, any and all info would help me out.

I think engine wise it should bolt up to most d series. I would defiantly buy the wagon, I actually want to do the swap you speak of. I think the wheels base is the same im 90% on that, make sure you google it though to make sure. Good luck to you sir.

I hope you know there is going to be a lot of fab work.
But there have been a lot of people saying there are or thinking about doing this swap.
I hope you really do it and finish it.

You might want to create an Account at Revscene and check out this post. The guy is fabbing an AWD CRX.

Moved, there was an EF hatch that had the AWD platform, made some awesome power on a stock motor without blowing up
