Hello all,

I'm having an alternator problem. Cut to 3 years ago, I replaced a bad alternator in my 97 civic. 9 months later it died again, put in a new one. 15 months later same thing put in a new one. Now this third alternator is going bad. Is there any underling problem that might be causing this? It seems they should last longer that a year for how much they cost.

Did you buy a re-manufactured alternator? Remans are junk these days, some brands more than others.

Either keep using the warranty or buy a new one. I've had good luck with Napa, they're more expensive though.

 

I've been buying new and have bought a Napa, O'Rilly's and Auto Zone alternator with no avail. they always seem to go bad just after the warranty goes out
