Default b16 vtec vs gsr vtec

i ran a search but couldnt find anything. im getting ready to put together a ls/vtec motor. i have a ls in my hb, and was wondering wgat the differences were in the heads. is there any diff between the 1.8 gsr head and the 1.6 si head. do i have a choice? what are the pros and cons between the two?

gsr has higher compression, b16 flows better. they pretty much even each other out.

i thought the b16 had more compression. the b16 head is the same casting as a type r head.

It's kind of like the Y8 and Z6 heads I think (since you seem to be a D-series guy). The B16 is round and flows better, and the GSR has squared chambers.

With a proper port job ($) the GSR head will be better. Depends on your budget. The B16 head will do a great job without work needed.
