b18b1 and b18a1 compatability?
i have a b18b1 currently in my 93 civic that spun a rod bearing. i bought a replacement motor for it but it's a b18a1. i know the motors are very similar any most all the parts will bolt up like the trans. and most of the little things like the starter ect. but looking at the two i notice differences in the air intake manifold and some of the connectors and harnesses. so my question is will the new b18a1 drop right into a b18b1 setup. main concerns are: Ecu, sensor connectors, axles, air intake manifold, distributor? just some of the things i was hoping would transfer, as they are in poor shape on the junkyard motor. also is there anything i should look for on the new motor before i put it in? i have checked compression which is good and i have dropped the oil pan there is no metal or metallic look on the bottom. i also dropped the screen out of it and took the shield off to check for any play in the bearings and they all felt good. it's all back together now and i have all new fluids for it of course as well as a new timing/pump kit acc. belts ect.. any help with this budget fix would be greatly appreciated. i think they only differ with intake manifolds, cams, exhaust manifolds, and OBD. not 100% sure though!
B18A1 - 90-91 - OBD0(=90-91) 130hp/121lb ft TQ
B18A1 - 92-93 - OBD1(=92-93) 140hp/126 lb ft TQ
B18B1 - 94-01 - OBD1(=94-95) 142hp/127lb ft TQ
B18A1 - 90-91 - OBD0(=90-91) 130hp/121lb ft TQ
B18A1 - 92-93 - OBD1(=92-93) 140hp/126 lb ft TQ
B18B1 - 94-01 - OBD1(=94-95) 142hp/127lb ft TQ
