Default Shiny New 2009 Civic Sedan won't start in cold weather

It's -20C outside, and my new Civic isn't starting. Yesterday it took me 10-20 tries to get the vehicle started. I took it to the dealership yesterday, and they replaced the battery with another one off the shelf - I think it's the same kind.

Their theory was the car was sitting on the lot for a few months, and the battery may have lost the charge, so they put a new one.

It didn't help - The car still didn't start this morning.

It may be worthy to note that the car only has 220KM on it (Very new) and it's on it's first and only tank of gas so far, but it's very embarassing/frustrating to not be able to start a new car.

Any theories, guys?

It fires up easily once it's warmer out? My '98 fires up no problem at that temp, and even fires up at -40C, whether the block is cold or not. Newer engines will have a tad more friction than a nicely broken in one, but not that much.

Possible condensation in the gas tank if it wasn't completely topped off when it was sitting on the lot.

It's a new car, take it back to the service dept. No reason it shouldn't easily fire up at -20C.

Thanks for the reply!

I put another tank of gas in, topped it up, and surprisingly the problem vanished. =) I was able to utilize my remote starter in -18C weather just fine the other morning.

It must have been condensation
