when people talk about having their motor balanced, what does that mean?

 

they are matching the weights of all the different related parts of the motor, like making all the conrods the same weight as each other, and all the pistons the same. things like that. it allows higher revs because there is less vibration. it usually takes into account the counterweights on the crankshaft. also, when the engine is balanced, it is usually blueprinted as well, which is taking all of the clearences into account and basically making the motor fit together as tight as possible.
