Question Break Lights Not Working.

my bf is trying to fix his 96 honda civic brake lights. it was working fine and only one was dead then when he put in a working one the break lights suddenly all died. he switched new bulbs with old bulbs back and forth and still nothing. the tail lights work, everything else works fine except the break lights. checked fuse, they're ok. thought it was the brake switch, we went out to buy a new one and it still the brake lights are still not working. does anyone know what is wrong. he's frustated and i'm googling up anything to help but i guess its not working this time. please help!

Does the horn still work? It should be on the same fuse. I think that fuse is under the hood.

Use a test light or voltmeter to see if power is reaching the switch. There should be power on both wires with the pedal pressed.

perhaps this is another case of the plastic or rubber thing not pushing the switch?

That causes the opposite... makes the brake lights always on (until the battery dies).
