Default broken trunk/gas release cable

the trunk/gas release cable has broken off of my civic. I have noticed this is a common problem, but have not seen a fix so far. The cable broke at the connecting between the lever and the cable itself. (where they connect.) any idea on how to replace this part? do we need to replace the whole cable?
mucho gracias

I had to replace my hood latch cable, so the gas release cable is probably a similar job. I had to take off the front grill, left front tire, quarter panel, headlight, and hood latch. Yeah, you have to dismantle the car just to get at these cables, sorry.

If it just broke from the latch pull device, and you can still see the cable somehow, there might be an easy fix for it. Kind of one of those little clamps they use on bicycles, or something similar.

If its back inside the cable housing somewhere, you will probably have to pull it all out :-(.. It shouldn't be that bad though to the fuel tank, I wouldn't think.
