A/C makes weird noises when turned on
Hi everybody I am new to this forum and I tried searching for my problem, but couldn't search A/C and didn't find it under air conditioning, but I recently bought a used 99 civic coupe HX and it runs fine, but whenever I turn on the a/c it makes a weird kinda of grinding noise it sounds as if my belts are loose or the circular thing that holds the belt is loose. Only happens when I turn on the a/c. I have heard this noise before a couple of times and it sounds as if something is grinding but usually goes away when I turn off the engine and turn it back on. the a/c seems to work fine though, but i'm scared i'm gonna mess it up more if i leave it on. any idea what the problem is and how I can fix it? preferrably without going to a shop? thanks
i kinda have a problem like dat but i gota very load squeeking sound and they told me that the a/c compressor is goin bad cause the a/c clutch is running out of oil so basically you will need to change it. try looking at ur compressor for the noise
Sorta sounds like the cooling fan might just be loose, or a bearing is going out or something. Kinda obvious, but that might not be it.
However if it is, get a new one on ebay or somewhere, don't have a shop rebuild it.
I once had a cooling fan go out in my dodge intrepid, 00, and the local shop here told me for $640.00 they would rebuild the motors for me. I laughed for 15 minutes, asked the guy if he was high, refused to pay their computer hookup fee, drove my car home, and bought one brand new on ebay for 100.00.
The wrong shop will use and abuse ya! Everyone should know that though, lol.
