Can anyone help?
My honda civic is starting to knock, but i don't believe it is a rod knock. It's in the top end...sounds similar to a rod knock. i was told it may be the timing belt, valves, or the cams. (i dont believe its the cams). if anyone knows about this i would appreciate the help.
Did this suddenly happen or has it been going on for a while? Besides the knock, does the engine otherwise run fine? Or are there performance problems? Is the CEL ON?
If the tapping is coming from the top of the engine, then you might want to start by adjusting the valve clearance. Another possibility is that you are hearing spark knock from bad gas or from the ignition timing being off.

it's been doing it for almost two weeks now, sometimes in nuetral the idle isnt constant it jumbs between 1000-1500 rpm. The CEL is on i think because of a missing sensor during the swap. its at the top of the engine towards the cams
Are you sure the noise isn't coming from one of the three drive belts or pulleys? Otherwise, pull off the valve cover and upper timing belt cover to inspect the timing belt.
Pull the CEL codes by jumping the service connector. Then clear the ECU and run the engine to see whether any of the codes repeat.
