Default Can it be done?...

Okay so after scouting things out trying to find the car I want I've got nadda. A few bites but all of them seem to be a bit on the shady side. One guy says his 92 civic has a ls motor/tranny swap. Then he goes on to later tell me it's a 1.6L sohc vtec that came out of a 2000 civic... Another guy has the exact car/engine I want...good price but he gives me a bunk VIN number and it's been more than 2 days and he hasn't responded to me. Keep in mind my searching has been via craigslist(anyone know a better place to look?) and in Wisconsin and Oregon. ANYWAYS....

My question is with a $6k budget can I(provided I find the right car) afford to put a b18b1 engine w/tranny into a 92-95 civic? I'm pretty sure the actual swap isn't an issue but the problem is the cost to do it. And I'm talking professionally done not some backyard special. $6k seems really low to me. I found the engine w/tranny with 60k on it for $2k after shipping. Any ideas advice? Am up a creek w/o a paddle?

2k for an ls is stupid expensive. I mean, I'm sure its in pretty good shape... but I've seen them around here for $500, complete swap (tranny, axles, ecu, etc.,)

Agreed. There are two LS swaps in the local junk yard that I could go pull for under $400.

Sorry for the late reply. Family issues tied me up. I'm going to keep shopping then. Any ideas where to look via internet for some good deals? Any reliable websites? This car is being built in Oregon and I live in Wisconsin so the internet is definitely my friend. Maybe I'll try to find some local junkyards there and see what I come up with.
